About Lovely and True
The name “Lovely and True” comes from a Bible verse I frequently cling to.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Philippians 4:8.
For me, the word “lovely” brings to mind all of God’s blessings in my life… my family, my friends, my hobbies, and all the joy they fill my life with. The word “true” has a bit of a mixed connotation in my mind. When I was younger, my mom used this verse to guide me through the hard times that young girls inevitably experience. In the midst of insecurities and temptations, my mom would tell me to dwell on the things that I knew to be “true” in my life… Truths such as “I am a child of God” and “nothing can separate me from His love”. I have continued this practice of “dwelling on the truth” into my adult life, and while it doesn’t magically dissolve away the hurts and frustrations of life on this earth, it does restore a proper perspective on a troubling situation. Thanks for taking the time to periodically stop by and read my “collection of all the things I choose to dwell on”. May God bless you with all things lovely and true!
